How do cloud storage services stack up against each other?
When it comes to choosing a cloud storage provider, Google, Microsoft Azure, and AWS are neck to neck in terms of a comprehensive offer to potential customers.
The cloud products of these tech giants can be compared in two main categories: features and pricing. We’ve made a cheat sheet to help you figure out which one might suit you better:
Features
- AWS: This service allows for a considerable time reduction when deploying different resources among developers. Along with tools like AWS, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing, its infrastructure can be modified depending on the shifts in demand. AWS also applies a wholesome approach to protect the infrastructure, including physical operative and software tools.
- Google Cloud: It’s known for having end-to-end encryption to allow safe cloud usage. This service is also trustworthy when it comes to data restoration: Google has a restoration service time of less than a second. This is huge compared to other providers since they can take hours to fulfill this task.
- Microsoft Azure: Its cloud is useful for all types of companies in most industries. Plus, it runs on any physical or cloud server, offering either a public or a private cloud. Another exclusive feature is a multi-cloud environment. Azure has tools to manage AWS, Google Cloud, and its own solutions simultaneously.
Pricing
It will depend on each project’s requirements and the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), which helps make a better financial estimation to meet such requirements.
- AWS: It has a tailor-made cost solution called pay as you go (PAYG), which allows the user to only pay for the used computing power. It’s particularly good for placing large databases online, but not so much for uploading apps. recommended for digital marketing, e-commerce, gaming, government data,
- Google Cloud: It’s the newest of the three cloud platforms, so that’s why it’s closely positioned to its competitors in terms of pricing, but it’s still focused on charging just for the exact use of computational power. Recommended for gaming, digital marketing, IoT, and private networks.
- Microsoft Azure: Of the three options, Microsoft’s alternative is a bit pricier but still has very flexible pricing plans. It’s good for gaming, data, and IoT because of its predictive maintenance and remote control, private clouds, and digital marketing.
